Campus Transit is now accepting applications for student bus and van operator trainees. 

Bus Operator Candidates

Are you up to the challenge of operating a bus in the traffic around campus and serving the hundreds of students, staff and faculty who ride our systems daily?  If you answered yes, then you may qualify as a bus operator.

The minimum requirements for bus operators are that you be a UGA student who:

  • Is 19 years of age or older
  • Has a safe driving record
    • Examples of disqualifying violations include (within the past 3 years): 
      • Speeding 15+ mph
      • Accident with citation
      • DUI
      • Failure to appear/missed court date
  • Holds at least a Class "C" driver's license (must upgrade from Class D before applying)

Note: New employees may not be employed by another UGA department and must terminate employment with other departments within 2 weeks of hire.

Van Operator Candidates

Driving a van for Campus Transit is a great way to help people while receiving a solid paycheck and great real-world job experience.  You will be trained to drive vans carrying less than 15 passengers and operate our paratransit vehicles.  

The minimum requirement for van operators are that you be a UGA student who:

  • Is 18 years of age or older
  • Has a safe driving record
    • Examples of disqualifying violations include (within the past 3 years): 
      • Speeding 15+ mph
      • Accident with citation
      • DUI
      • Failure to appear/missed court date

Van operators who meet the minimum bus operator qualifications may apply to drive buses after operating vans for one semester.

Note: New employees may not be employed by another UGA department and must terminate employment with other departments within 2 weeks of hire.

Campus Transit requires pre-employment drug screening for safety sensitive positions.  Drug and alcohol testing in accordance with USDOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations is a condition of employment.
